Over the years the Fashion Design and Textiles Studies Department has been organising an annual Exhibition and Fashion Show. The event provides the forum for HND 3 and B-Tech 2 students to show case their project collections as part of their graduation requirement.
Fashion Expression 2019 has as its theme “Creative Partnership”. This year’s theme was carefully selected based on the focus of the event. For the first time in the history of Fashion Expression, the students worked in groups. The idea is to encourage the students to form partnerships and develop the spirit of cooperation based on specialized strengths of members of the group. The core areas in the teams are Design, Textiles and garment. The expectation is that the students will bring their individual strengths together to form a formidable team that will exploit the vast opportunities in the Fashion Industry.
This year, the Department presented one hundred and thirty (130) HND students for Exhibition and Fashion Show and Nine (9) B-Tech Students for the Exhibition. Because of the group work, forty-three (43) HND teams that constitute Fashion houses are participating in the Fashion Show. The Fashion Houses have successfully produced six (6) collections each to be displayed on the run-way.
